A practical workshop on the necessary steps to take in managing the aspects and impact of Harassment & Bullying within the workplace.Who should attend?
Representatives of organisations who may be experiencing potential Harassment reports and who do not know which direction to take the allegations or managers looking to introduce robust procedures into their workplace in order to address harassment & bullying issues.
A new line manager in need of support or guidance as to tackle Harassment & Bullying reported to them or more established managers or any manager, who may be experiencing difficulty with particular cases, but do not have the benefit of on-site HR guidance at their place of work.
Organisation wishing to take proactive steps to engender a healthy working environment where employees feel free from Harassment & Bullying in their place of work.
Who will the workshop benefit?
Guidance and discussion on practical suggestions for action based on real ‘live’ examples in a ‘work-shop’ type delivery mechanism.
Candidates to this course will discuss & debate what constitutes Harassment and/or Bullying and the measures that can be taken to combat the issue.
Candidates will achieve a greater confidence in dealing with H&B related issues and will have opportunity to discuss ‘live’ problem cases in their respective roles and what other action could be considered.
Course Overview
This workshop can be made as theoretical or practical as required by the group and flexible in terms of needs. In order to enable learning outcomes to be achieved in a unique and fun way it will include discussion, debates and a critical exploration of:
- What constitutes Harassment & Bullying
- Practical suggestions on how to deal with related matters
- The appropriate involvement of union representatives, potential formal investigation and/or disciplinary action and the pit-falls to avoid repercussion
- How best to engender a positive approach to H&B to establish an environment where staff feel confident enough to bring issues to the attention of management for possible action
Course attendees should expect to be involved with the discussion and will be challenged to discuss particular personal cases in a confidential manner to improve the chances of resolution.
Course Facilitator

Paul Harris has been involved in Blue-Chip front line Operational HR advice & Guidance for over 15 years, firstly with Marks & Spencer in Retail and for the past 12 years, with Legal & General and the world of Financial services. He was responsible for the initial set up of the new Legal & General set up in Cardiff, taking it through from it's initial launch of 50 staff, to over 2000 staff within an 18-month period.
An international sports person in his own right, he has successfully used his natural drive and motivation to influence the business decisions taken and the people around him. He is experienced in all aspects of general HR subject matter, with a deep experience of the more complex operational issues that face any organisation today. Trained in psychometric testing, he has substantial recruitment knowledge and experience and a proven track record in the management of more difficult 'behaviour' within the work-place. A trained teacher, he is well versed in tutoring in his specialist field, and can deliver the full range of HR advice, via stand-up lecture, work-shop, one to one specific guidance or on a consultant basis for larger projects.
