A practical discussion based workshop on the most effective methods of interviewing for specific roles.
The course will focus on the interviewing challenges to be overcome, including selecting the right capabilities to focus upon, ensuring the process of interviewing is fair, as well as guidance as to how to ensure that the actual interview is effective and produces the right end result with new recruits.Who should attend?
A new line manager who needs to build confidence in interviewing skills and/or persons responsible for the build and design interview of techniques for a wider group of managers, who may require support.
Established managers or any manager, who may be looking to expand upon their existing interview techniques used or to gain further confidence as to how to the pitfalls that they may already have come across.
Who will the workshop benefit?
Guidance and discussion on practical suggestions for action based on real ‘live’ examples in a ‘work-shop’ type delivery mechanism. Candidates to this course can bring along interview issues that can be discussed on the day and guidance on solution suggested.
Candidates will achieve a greater confidence in understanding the various methods of interviewing, including competency or capability based techniques, with a focus on improvement if possible of the existing skills that they already have.
Course Overview
This workshop can be made as theoretical or practical as required by the group and flexible in terms of needs. In order to enable learning outcomes to be achieved in a unique and fun way it will include discussion, debates and a critical exploration of:
- The design of interview scripts
- The thorny issues of employment law that are relevant
- Supporting managers in how to interview in the most affective manner to ensure that the selection of candidates is as cost effective as possible
- Relevant aspects of employment law
- Support for managers who are at all worried about what ‘not’ to say at interview
- Avoiding potential associated ‘stress’ linked to using inappropriate questions or interview topics
- What definitely should or must be said
Course attendees should expect to be involved with the discussion and will be encouraged to bring along and discuss particular personal cases in a confidential manner.
