Stress Management For Managers

Description

This workshop will enable managers to understand some of the causes of stress-related illness and how they as managers can help with stress-prevention in both themselves and others.

This training opportunity follows on from attendance on the first phase stress management course.

Stress is the most dangerous risk to business in the 21st century. Effective management will improve human capital health and the organisation’s bottom line.

Course Overview

This workshop can be made as theoretical or practical as required by the group and flexible in terms of needs. In order to enable learning outcomes to be achieved in a unique and fun way it will include discussion, debates and a critical exploration of:

  • Effective communication
  • Emotional intelligence within the team
  • Aligning personal, team and organizational values
  • Personal action planning for the manager

Course attendees should expect to be involved with the discussion and will be encouraged to bring along and discuss particular personal cases in a confidential manner.

Dr Andy Williams

Dr Andy Williams is the Director of the Centre for Outdoor Education Studies at Trinity  College, University of Wales. He has been involved with outdoor and experiential earning for over twenty five years and has taught in higher education in Australia and the UK.   Andy has led and taken part in expeditions throughout the world including Scandanavia, New Zealand, Australia, Russia, China, Nepal, South Pacific islands, North America, and Antarctica.  He uses the cultural, philosophical and organisational insights gained from these experiences in his work with a broad and diverse list of clients, including young people, children, higher education students, adults returning to work, special needs, management, ethnic minorities and youth at risk. Andy is an Accredited Practitioner of the Institute for Outdoor Learning and uses the outdoor learning environment as a setting for personal development, community regeneration and management training programmes. He is a highly respected commentator on outdoor and experiential learning and a regular contributor to international publications and conferences on outdoor learning.
